North by Northwest 50th Anniversary DVD Contest
Cary Grant, Eva Marie Saint and James Mason headline the cast in the Alfred Hitchcock masterpiece North by Northwest. Cary Grant plays Roger Thornhill, an adman who is plunged into a world of spy (James Mason) and counterspy (Eva Marie Saint). Along the way, he is abducted, framed for murder, chased and crop-dusted. The climax finds him hanging from the facial features of Mount Rushmore's Presidents. Up for contest is the 50th Anniversary Edition of North by Northwest, featuring over 3 hours of bonus features, including Destination Hitchcock: The Making of North by Northwest, The Master's Touch: Hitchcock's Signature Style, and Cary Grant: A Class Apart (2003 TCM Documentary). This dazzling 50th anniversary edition has been restored from the original VistaVision elements. ![]() ![]() To Enter the Contest: Post a reply to this thread stating your favorite Alfred Hitchcock movie and why you like it. As always, there are no length requirements for your post. Good luck. Last edited by klance1 : 12-20-2009 at 02:34 AM. |

I love most of the Hitchc0ck movies I've seen, but I choose Shadow of a Doubt....I don't really know why it's my favorite Hitch film. I think it has a lot to do with the cast. I like Joseph Cotten and really like the beautiful Teresa Wright and her sweet innocence.

The Birds is my favorite by far. It spotlights how evil birds are. I am not a fan of birds myself after I getting attacked by a bird because I came to close to its nest. The thing dive bombed me once, then the second time it came by and hit me in the head and got its little claws stuck in my hair. We were both freaking out. It was traumatic....

Wow what a tough choice. I love all of his movies. But I have to say The Trouble With Harry, it is just quirky good fun. I think there is always a touch of black humor in Hitch0ck's films, but he pulls out all of the stops in this movie. I just love the "feel" of this movie, the spectactularly colorful scenes, filmed partially outdoors and then alot of the outdoors was recreated in a sound stage. This movie is a perfect blend of Hitchc0ck's wit and style and Bernard Herrmann's musical score, the first movie he did for Hitch0ck, marking a long and brillant collaberation.
Ok I better stop before I start mentioning 6 other of my favorite films of his.

Don't worry, I'm not entering myself in the contest, I just wanted to chime in with my favorite Hitchcock movie. For me, it would have to be Notorious. Hitch brings his staple style into a movie that has Nazis, spies and an engaging love story. To me, it always felt like the perfect blend of darker elements from movies like Shadow of a Doubt and Psycho with lighter elements from classics like To Catch a Thief and others. And the teacup scene is unforgettable.
